Ensemble Sonore

Formed in March 2001, Elizabeth Universityfs Ensemble Sonore is dedicated to the performance of contemporary and 14th century music. The group consists of six core members: Kumiko Kanehara (soprano), Tomomi Kanemoto (clarinet), Toshimitsu Kamigaichi (guitar), Noritaka Ito (piano), Noriko Shiozaki (violin) and John Cole (conductor).

This concert will include works by the two 14th century composers Guillame Machaut and Johannes Ciconia. Contemporary works include pieces by Toru Takemitsu and Charles Ives. New works written specifically for the ensemble by Daisuke Terauchi, John Cole and Hugh Peaker will also be performed.
